Doxycycline 100mg

Doxycycline is a registered trademark of the Pfizer laboratory, it is a tetracycline antibiotic that is used to fight bacteria in the body. Doxycycline 100mg Generic is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. The drug is also sold under the names Oracea, Doryx, Monodox, Periostat and Vibramycin.

Doxycycline 100mg Generic belongs to the class of medications called tetracyclines, and it is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, which means it works on a wide range of bacteria.
In addition, doctors prescribe Generic Doxycycline 100mg to prevent malaria and treat a wide range of infections such as:

  • Pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections
  • Lyme disease
  • Skin infections
  • Infections involving the genitals and urinary tract infections
  • Anthrax (after inhalation exposure)

Generic Doxycycline 100mg works by preventing the growth and spread of bacteria.

Like all antibiotics, doxycycline does not treat colds, flu or other infections caused by viruses or fungi.
In 2014, a study found that a low dose of 40 milligrams (mg) of doxycycline a day could be an effective and safe therapy for the treatment of ocular rosacea. The pharmaceutical company Pfizer developed doxycycline in the early 1960s, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the drug in 1967 under the brand name Vibramycin. It was in 1994 that the FDA recognized drug efficacy and also approved it for malaria prevention.

How Doxycycline Works

The drug is used to relieve a wide variety of bacterial infections, and acne. It is also used to prevent malaria, and is known as a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by preventing the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic only treats bacterial infections. It is ineffective against viral infections (like colds, flu). It is important to note that the misuse of antibiotics can lead to decreased effectiveness.

Doxycycline Best Dosage

It is best to take this medication orally on an empty stomach (fasting), at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal, usually 1 or 2 times a day or as directed by your doctor.
Take this medicine with a glass of water (at least 240 ml) unless otherwise noted. In case of stomach upset, take it with food or milk. However, the effectiveness of doxycycline may be compromised or impaired when you are taking with food or milk (or calcium-rich foods - more details below), please talk to your doctor or pharmacist. Do not lie down for 10 minutes after taking this medicine. Take this medicine 2 to 3 hours before or after taking products containing aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc or bismuth salicylate, antacids, didanosine solution, quinapril, vitamins / minerals, dairy products ( like milk, yogurt), and calcium-enriched juice.
These products self-activate and prevent your body from completely absorbing the medication.

When used against malaria, this medicine should be taken once a day.
Take the first dose of this medication 1 to 2 days before travel according to the pharmacist's instructions. You may continue to take this product for 4 weeks after your return trip. If using the liquid form of this medication, shake the bottle well before each dose. Measure the dose carefully using a special measuring device / spoon. Do not use a household spoon because you may not get the correct dose, and remember that the dosage is based on your health status and the body's response to the treatment. For children, the dosage can also be based on weight.

Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level. Therefore, take this medicine at regular intervals. Continue taking this medication until the end of treatment, even if the symptoms disappear after a few days. Because any early stop of the drug can allow the bacteria to continue to grow, which can lead to a return of the infection. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or deteriorates.
