Arcoxia is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) manufactured by Merck Co. as a successor to their arthritis drug. The active ingredient is etoricoxib which helps block the production of cyclooxygenase - (COX-2), the enzyme responsible for pain and inflammation. Arcoxia is produced by Merck Sharp & Dhome.
A systematic review of Arcoxia evaluated the benefits of a single dose of Arcoxia in reducing acute postoperative pain in adults. A single oral dose of etoricoxib has been reported to provide rapid pain relief after major surgery in adults and the adverse effects are similar to those seen in placebo experiments. Arcoxia given at a dose of 120 mg is as effective as other painkillers that are commonly used.
Buy Arcoxia - Indications
Like any selective COX-2 inhibitor (coxib), Arcoxia selectively inhibits isoform 2 of the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX-2). It has a selectivity of about 106-fold for COX-2 on inhibition of COX-1. This reduces the production of prostaglandins (PG) from arachidonic acid.
Among the different functions involved in the production of prostaglandins (PG), their role in the inflammation cascade should be highlighted. Selective inhibitors have less activity on COX-1 than conventional non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). This reduced activity is the cause of reduced gastrointestinal side effects, as demonstrated in several large clinical trials with different coxibs.
